NEWS FROM REBELLION: COLLECTORS' EDITION

"Gaze into the fist of Dredd" with HIYA Toys

It’s one of the most iconic panels in comic history – and now “Gaze into the fist of Dredd!” is being brought to life as an action figure set from HIYA Toys!

The two-figure 1/18 scale PVC action figure set of Judge Dredd and Judge Fear will be coming to stores in early 2024.

Judge Fear is the terror-inducing member of the Dark Judges, the alien superfiends from a dimension where all life has been declared a crime – and a single look behind the gothic windows of his helmet visor reveals his victim’s worst fear, scaring them to death!

But in the 1981 Judge Dredd story ‘Judge Death Lives’, drawn by the legendary artist Brian Bolland, when Judge Fear invites Dredd to “Gaze into the face of Fear!” rather than succumb to terror Dredd instead smashes his fist straight through Fear’s head and declares “Gaze into the fist of Dredd!”.

Regularly cited by fans as one of Dredd’s greatest ever moments, the Exquisite Mini Series 1/18 Scale 4 Inch Judge Dredd: Gaze Into The Fist of Dredd Action Figure set will retail at $39.99 (USD) and will be available to pre-order from retailers from 10 May.

The Judge Fear figure comes with 13 points of articulation and Dredd with 16 points, plus shoulder and joint pads, and chains and badges of office. Judge Fear’s helmet has been remodelled to allow you to set up the classic pose, with a fist-sized hole for Dredd to punch through!

The latest addition to the brand new range of fully-poseable 1/18 scale figures will come shipped in an attractive protective cardboard window box.

HIYA Toys Announce 1/12 Scale Judge Dredd Action Figure Line

Rebellion and HIYA Toys are proud to announce the launch of a new line of six-inch articulated figures based on the world of Judge Dredd, from the pages of the bestselling comic British comic, 2000 AD.

Hot on the heels of their acclaimed 1/18 four-inch range of articulated figures based on classic Judge Dredd characters, HIYA is to size up the world of Mega-City One to a series of 1/12 scale six-inch figures.

The new HIYA Exquisite Super Series of fully-poseable figures will begin with the ultimate lawman of the future himself – Judge Dredd.

Drawing on more than four decades of ground-breaking comic books set in the world of the classic character created by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra in 1977, pre-order for the Judge Dredd 1/12 scale figure launches at the end of April with figures expected to reach retailers in October 2023.

One of the world’s most famous comic book characters, Judge Dredd has been patrolling the mean streets of Mega-City for forty-five years and this dynamic and fully poseable figure perfectly captures his iconic look, drawing on the artwork of legendary artists such as Carlos Ezquerra, Mick McMahon, Brian Bolland, Cliff Robinson and more! These hyper-detailed figures feature all-new accessories and materials, including interchangeable heads and hands, and fabric clothing.

With 19 points of articulation, he comes with shoulder and joint pads, chain and badge of office, boot holster, utility belt, and imposing helmet.

This time you can also play with the legendary visage of the future lawman, as this figure will come with four alternative faces: featuring a normal expression, one of disdain, a toothy scowl, and an open-mouthed shout as he declares “I am the law!”.

He will also come with five pairs of interchangeable hands in different poses, including loose grip, fists, daystick holders, gun holders, one pulling the collar of a recently apprehended perp, and one spraying a can of the miracle plastic Boing®.

In addition, he will come with both Mark One and Mark Two type Lawgiver handguns and a can of Boing® spray, as well as fantastic gun flame effect and smoke effect pieces, a Boing® spray can special effect piece, plus a nine-hole base, a storage base, and a three-section bracket for posing.

Jason Kinglsey OBE, CEO of Rebellion, said: “We’ve been blown away by HIYA’s work on its line of 1/18 scale figures – not just the quality and workmanship but also how they’ve really delved deeper and deeper into Judge Dredd’s world to bring us figures we never thought we’d see. So we’re very excited about what they have planned for the 1/12 scale series and their vision of Dredd looks great. We’re excited to see both our fans getting their hands on this new range but also whole new audiences who’ll discover the world of Judge Dredd.”

New Merch Marks 45 years of STRONTIUM DOG

For 45 years they’ve been taking down the scum of the galaxy and to celebrate the anniversary of the debut of Strontium Dog, Rebellion has unveiled a brand new slate of merchandise!

From T-shirts to pint glasses, from mugs to iron-on patches, the new anniversary Strontium Dog range is the perfect gift for the mutant bounty hunter in your life.

This new line of merchandise is inspired by and pays homage to one of 2000 AD’s most popular ever series, an epic sci-fi Western created by writer John Wagner and artist Carlos Ezquerra that debuted in Starlord, 2000 AD’s short-lived sister title, in 1978.

One of the most iconic strips in the history of British comics, the bounty hunters of the Search/Destroy Agency – derisively dubbed ‘Strontium Dogs’ – are members of a persecuted minority of mutated humans, their bodies warped by Strontium 90 fallout, who are despised by the ‘Norm’ population, barred from public life, and herded into ghettos.

The only job open to them is as bounty hunters and, from the orbiting ‘Doghouse’ base, Johnny Alpha and his Viking partner, Wulf Sternhammer head out to track down criminals for cold, hard cash – from deep space to Hell itself, from Adolf Hitler to Ronald Reagan!

The series has had a cultural impact far beyond its pages, with director Edgar Wright and actor Simon Pegg famously citing the death of Johnny Alpha in their acclaimed comedy TV series Spaced.

The new line of merchandise, available from the Rebellion online store, pays tribute to this popular and influential series, referencing key locations and individuals from the rich history of the last 45 years, all of it coming from the fertile imaginations of Ezquerra, Wagner and his writing partner, the late Alan Grant.

Designed by Salvador Lavado – who has worked with major brands and international artists including John Williams, Metallica, Jay-Z, Mercury Records and many more – the new merchandise digs deep into the history and lore of the strip to produce designs that will delight fans while remaining intriguing to those unfamiliar with the landmark series.

The new T-shirts reference just some of the series’ legendary weaponry – including ‘Westinghouse’, the supplier of Johnny Alpha’s preferred Variable Blaster firearm, and the iconic ‘Electronux’ electrical stun knuckle-duster, while posing as an employee of the famous ‘Doghouse’ space station. There is a fun ‘Sternhammer Ale’ design which pays tribute to Wulf’s legendary thirst and love of good company, while another advertises the services of the Gronk, Alpha and Sternhammer’s weak-hearted medic.

And thirsty bounty hunters will be able to quench their thirst with the first Strontium Dog pint glasses – featuring the ‘Sternhammer Ale’ and the ‘Property of The Doghouse’ designs – as well as a mug from the Doghouse Canteen and others sporting the ‘Doghouse’ and ‘Westinghouse’ designs.

The new range of Strontium Dog is available now from the Rebellion online store at shop.rebellion.com
